Porsche 992 Turbo Performance Exhaust Systems
POR.992T.CESX
DEVELOPMENT GOALS
- Build a non-valved system based around a single flow path with large diameter tubing to yield maximum power and sound gains.
- Heighten aggressiveness while maintaining an overall sound level potential / quality that can still be reasonably driven on the street through our signature drone fighting capabilities.
- Maintain a smooth tone with refined character befitting of a Porsche while still offering maximum flow.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT
The first order of business was increasing exhaust flow by removing the factory exhaust design from the equation as the tubing diameter is limited to 2.75”. Bespoke catalytic converter sections allow us to go up to full 3” diameter in both catted and catless configurations. The cat pipes then go into a 3” X-Pipe assembly. While some X-Pipe designs use 3” bends, they are cut and welded together and thus reduce the diameter of the pipe to make the X. Our X-Pipe is unique in that it is cast to maintain strength and reduce the amount of welds in the system, and we take advantage of that casting to elongate the X to maintain the tubing diameter and maximize flow characteristics. Exhaust flow leaving the X-Pipe assembly then exits out through 3” diameter piping all the way to the tip exits.

Lengthening the flow path and blending the exhaust flow in the X-Pipe creates a smoother, higher pitch than shorter separated banks. To further refine the tone of the exhaust note, we first implemented four resonators similar to our 996/997/991 Turbo X-Pipe systems. We reduced the resonators to two, which still refined the exhaust note but allowed more overall sound volume for the driver to enjoy. The 992 platform does have a drone range of approximately 2,000-2,400rpm and the less restriction you have the more pronounced this becomes. We experimented with different lengths and locations of Helmholtz anti-drone tubes to reduce drone. While not eliminated, we’ve reduced it to what we would consider a reasonable level for most drivers looking to maximize the potential of the 992 platform with an aggressive exhaust system. Once we determined the most effective length of the drone tubes separately from each other, we then looped them together into a more symmetrical and aesthetically appealing design while capping them internally to remain functional.
Eliminating the valves was a unique challenge. You cannot simply unplug the electronically actuated valves. If you do – expect limp mode. You cannot take the electronic valve actuators off the mechanical valve bodies and leave them plugged in. If you do – limp mode. For the time being – the factory valves need to be mounted to a bespoke bracket that creates a start/stop point for the electronic valve actuators to mimic factory valve functionality. Our system comes with these bespoke brackets to ensure there is no CEL or limp mode.
DRIVING IMPRESSIONS
Revel in a bolder, fuller exhaust note with a smoother, higher pitched tone. You’ll notice more mechanical feedback and a ripping growl as you climb in RPMs and be treated to increased burbles during deceleration in Sport mode. The turbos make themselves known, especially with the catless Competition version which is particularly sinister with added whistle and induction sound. Both systems deliver an enjoyable, refined and distinctly Porsche exhaust note without rasp and with reduced drone in spite of their free flowing nature. That said, these systems are aggressive and if you desire a drone free experience we recommend our Sport Catalytic Converters.
POWER
Expressing our intent to support big power builds, World Motorsports was up to the task of proving performance gains. Our Competition Performance Exhaust System was paired with upgraded headers, CSF intercoolers, upgraded Pure Turbos, and M-Engineering ECU tune. With 91 octane gas, the Mustang dyno recorded peak power gains of 206 whp and 83 ft-lbs of torque with massive gains across the board at all RPM.
